Tirunelveli to Nava Tirupathi by cab
Nava Tirupathi is a group of nine Vishnu temples along the Thamirabarani between Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur, each counted among the 108 Divya Desams sung by the Alvars. Devotees traditionally visit all nine, and many try to do it in a single day. It is possible, but only with an early start and a plan that respects each temple’s opening hours.
This is the tour where a driver who has done the route recently matters most. The temples are spread over a wide area, several close in the afternoon, and the best order changes with the day of the week. We plan the sequence with you and adjust it on the road if a queue or a closure changes things.
Route and travel time
The usual route is the Thamirabarani valley between Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur. The distance is a circuit of about 140 to 160 km, and the drive takes a full day of 10 to 12 hours including darshan.The best time to go is early mornings in the cooler months; avoid the hottest afternoons.

Two temples, known together as Irattai Tirupathi, associated with Rahu and Ketu.
How the day works
- Leave Tirunelveli around 5:30 to 6:30 am, so the first temples open on time.
- Start with Srivaikuntam and follow the traditional order where timings allow.
- Plan a simple lunch break, since many temples close for a few hours in the afternoon.
- Expect to finish between evening and early night, depending on queues.
Good to know before you go
- Temple opening hours differ and change on special days. We confirm them with the temples before your date.
- Book early for Saturdays, new-moon days and festival dates, when demand is highest.
- Dress modestly, carry easy-to-remove footwear and keep valuables in the car.
- The circuit distance depends on your pickup and the order followed. Extra kilometres beyond a package limit are charged at the published rate.
Which car to book
An SUV such as an Innova or Innova Crysta is the usual choice for a family of six or seven, with room for elders and a long day on the road. Larger groups take a Tempo Traveller. A sedan works for a small family.
